1. Introduction
Brity Group Limited ("we", "us", "our", or "Brity") is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct sets out the behavioural expectations for everyone attending our courses, whether in-person or online.
By enrolling on a Brity course, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Compliance is also a condition of our Terms and Conditions.
This Code applies to all learners, delegates, and accompanying persons throughout all training activities, including breaks and any associated social events.
2. Our Values
Our training environment is built on these core values:
Treating all participants, trainers, and staff with dignity and courtesy
Welcoming people of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities
Maintaining appropriate conduct and focus throughout training
Prioritising physical and psychological wellbeing at all times
3. Professional Behaviour Expectations
All participants are expected to:
- Arrive ready to learn with a positive and open attitude
- Participate actively in discussions, demonstrations, and practical exercises
- Listen attentively when trainers or other participants are speaking
- Ask questions respectfully and allow others time to contribute
- Keep mobile phones on silent and avoid unnecessary distractions
- Dress appropriately for practical activities (comfortable clothing, flat shoes)
- Follow health and safety instructions given by trainers
4. Respect, Inclusion & Anti-Harassment
We expect all participants to:
- Treat everyone with dignity regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic
- Use inclusive and respectful language at all times
- Respect different learning styles, paces, and abilities
- Support fellow learners in a collaborative, non-competitive spirit
Unacceptable Behaviour
- Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind
- Discriminatory remarks, jokes, or behaviour
- Unwanted physical contact or sexual harassment
- Aggressive, threatening, or violent behaviour
- Mocking, belittling, or undermining other participants
Our full commitment to equality is set out in our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy.
5. Attendance and Punctuality
Arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time to allow for registration and settling in.
You must attend the full duration of the course. Partial attendance may result in certification being withheld.
Late arrival disrupts learning and may compromise safety during practical activities. Learners arriving more than 15 minutes late may not be admitted, as per awarding body requirements. No refund will be provided.
Return promptly from scheduled breaks. Extended absences disrupt learning and may affect your assessment.
If you know you will be late or unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible so we can advise on options.
6. Use of Equipment and Materials
Training equipment (manikins, AED trainers, bandages, etc.) is provided for learning purposes. All participants must:
- Handle equipment carefully and use it only as instructed
- Report any damage or faults to the trainer immediately
- Follow hygiene protocols (e.g., using manikin wipes, hand sanitiser)
- Not remove, photograph, or copy training materials without permission
Note: Deliberate damage to equipment may result in removal from the course and liability for repair or replacement costs.
7. Health, Safety and Wellbeing
First aid training involves physical activity. For everyone's safety:
- Inform your trainer of any medical conditions, injuries, or disabilities that may affect your participation
- Do not attend if you are unwell with infectious symptoms
- You must not attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Follow fire evacuation procedures and emergency instructions
Reasonable adjustments can be made for participants with specific needs—please discuss this with us before your course.
9. Consequences of Misconduct
Breaches of this Code of Conduct will be addressed proportionately. Consequences may include:
- Verbal Warning: For minor disruptions or first-time issues
- Final Warning: For repeated issues or more serious breaches
- Removal from Course: For serious misconduct or continued disruption. Removal from a course will normally result in the learner being unable to complete required assessments and therefore not receiving certification. No refund will be provided, as per our Terms and Conditions.
- Permanent Ban: For gross misconduct, violence, or harassment. The individual will be prohibited from future Brity courses.
Important: Nothing in this Code limits our obligations under safeguarding or equality legislation.
In cases involving potential criminal conduct, we may report matters to the police or relevant authorities.
10. Online Learning Sessions
When participating in virtual or online sessions, additional expectations apply:
- Join from a quiet, distraction-free environment where possible
- Keep your camera on where possible, unless agreed otherwise with the trainer
- Mute your microphone when not speaking to reduce background noise
- Use the chat function appropriately and respectfully
- Do not record, screenshot, or share session content without permission
- Dress appropriately and ensure your background is suitable
11. Raising Concerns
If you witness or experience behaviour that breaches this Code of Conduct, please report it:
- During a session: Speak to your trainer or approach them privately during a break
- After a session: Email info@brity.co.uk
- Safeguarding concerns: Report to our Designated Safeguarding Lead via safeguarding@brity.co.uk
All reports will be taken seriously, investigated appropriately, and handled confidentially. See our Safeguarding Policy for more information.
